BASIC RIDER COURSE Get your M2 license or endorsement!  This course coaches the student in fundamental 2-wheeled motorcycle safety skills. Students are required to have a valid Virginia drivers license. Successful completion of this course waives the DMV knowledge exam (learner’s permit test) and the DMV road test. The student will receive a Virginia DMV Completion Certificate and an MSF Completion Card. Students over age 19 will be able to ride a motorcycle for 30 days on the DMV Completion Certificate, and will have one year from date of issue to turn the certificate in at DMV to obtain the “M2” endorsement on his/her Virginia Driver’s License. You may turn it in for a motorcycle license if a driver’s license is not desired. This is valid in Virginia. Check your state's requirements prior to enrolling. This is a physically demanding course. Students will be removed if they are determined to be endangering the safety of themselves or others. The class will commence rain or shine. If there is lightning, we will break until the storm passes. Under any of the circumstances given above, no refunds will be granted. Note: Students under the age of 18 have additional certification requirements and will be required to have written parental permission, in person at classroom Saturday, to take the course.Refunds will not be made for “NO SHOWS”, so be sure of your class date. There are no cancellations or class changes within 2 weeks of the class start date. Basic Rider 2 Course  (Advanced Level) is designed for riders with a minimum six months and 3,000 miles experience. Students provide their own street-legal motorcycles with proof of ownership, current license with “M2” endorsement, proof of insurance, current state inspection, must pass a visual pre-ride safety inspection, and wear required riding gear (Three-quarter shell motorcycle helmet that meets U.S. Department of Transportation Safety standards, Eye protection,  boots or shoes that cover and protect the ankles and feet , jacket or shirt with long sleeves and long pants made of denim or other durable material, abrasion resistant, full-fingered gloves). If these requirements are not met, student will not be able to participate and no refund or reschedule will be granted. This is a one session, 4 hour course, outside - rain or shine. In order to receive a refund, you must withdraw at least two weeks prior to the class start date. Refunds will not be made for “no shows” or late arrivals. Students must be on time. $25 fee for each cancellation or class change.

JUMP START  is designed for the novice rider to gain familiarity and comfort with a motorcycle before taking the Basic Rider Course. Learn a motorcycle’s operational parts, how to mount & start, practice clutch/throttle coordination, and how to make it stop and go! If you want to learn about motorcycles before committing to licensure, or just want some “hands-on” without taking a full course, this class is for you. Riding gear and cancellation policy same as the Basic Rider Course. You will not be able to participate without proper attire. Student should be able to balance and ride a bicycle before taking the Jump Start class. We provide the motorcycle only. 3/4 shell Department of Transportation approved helmet and face covering are required. Limited to 3 students per class with no pass/fail or test. $25.00 fee for each cancellation or class change.  Class is held outdoors, rain or shine.  Social distancing and face covering requirements are strictly enforced.

To reduce first year teen crashes,  Albemarle County and the DMV require parents/guardians to attend a free parent seminar before enrolling their teens in Behind-the-Wheel. Experts contend that students need fifty hours of supervised driving time before being allowed to drive alone. This class will provide you with information on Virginia traffic laws, updated safety recommendations, coaching your teen, and insuring your new driver. Teens are not required to accompany you. Notice: You only need to attend once if you have more than one child. Pre-registration is recommended, but not required--walk-ins are more than welcome!
